Seine North Europe Canal

A new lifeline for northern Europe.

The Seine-Nord Europe Canal Company is spearheading one of Europe’s largest river infrastructure projects: connecting the Seine basin to the wide-gauge network of northern Europe, accelerating the transition to carbon-free freight transport, and boosting the economic appeal of the Hauts-de-France region. Stretching 107 km and crossing 59 municipalities, the canal is a strategic lever for industrial relocation, logistics development, and sustainable planning, while strongly involving local residents through consultation mechanisms.

To support this ambition, we designed a visual identity based on the existing logo that visually conveys the idea of a “new lifeline for the region.” The concept is based on a bundle of fluid lines that intersect and unfold in the graphic space, a metaphor for the flows, exchanges, and interconnections generated by the project. It is inspired by the movement of water, networks, and territorial cartography.

The visual system is designed to be modular and scalable. A palette dominated by institutional blues, enriched with greens and secondary colors, allows themes (project, territory, consultation, construction site) to be distinguished while maintaining strong consistency. The “lifelines” structure the layouts, accommodate images and content, and facilitate variations across all media (publishing, signage, events, and digital). The identity is thus part of a brand architecture capable of supporting the project over time, between the institutional dimension and territorial appropriation.
